To be fair, those Karens can be pretty unfair to the delivery drivers too. Experience delivering from doordash has taught me some people will simply not accept even the smallest annoyance.

I really do feel bad for all the good, kind, caring Karens out there...

Oh, and can I please have an option to see the median reviews?

I’m not saying everyone named Karen decades before the Karen meme is a terrible person that should be sent to Siberia as traitors to the revolution

I am not not saying that however

Can confirm. I dated a Karen in high school and college. I thought she was perfect until she said “I wanna date a lot of guys.”  Turns out she had already started.

I thought honesty was good in relationships

Those reviews have really limited the effectiveness of TripAdvisor and Yelp. “Food was excellent , but decor was a little dated - 2 stars” or “hotel was nice, staff amazing, but bathroom was on the small side - 1 star” the meaningless shit some people choose to focus on is ridiculous.

I don’t know, the restaurant made the choice to partner with a third-party delivery service, so it seems entirely fair to apportion them some blame.

Obviously you can go overboard with that, but if you order from a restaurant and receive bad service, that is the restaurant’s problem, and it’s incumbent on them to make it right , or to make their delivery partner make it right.

Not always. Sometimes the 3rd party delivery companies have no relationship with the restaurants, and GrubHub has been creating fake websites for restaurants to force them through GrubHub instead of ordering directly from the restaurants.

I mean, if Grubhub is doing that, they are infringing on trademarks and should be sued for damages.

In any event, there is generally a relationship, and even if you sign up with grubhub, you still have the option to provide your own delivery services. The point is that it is your restaurant, and it’s your responsibility to make sure the customer has a good experience. Outsourcing the work doesn’t mean you can outsource the blame if you are putting your name on it.

I’m reluctant to blame restaurants that are hanging on for dear life under good circumstances, much less a pandemic, for not having the resources to manage the experience once the food leaves their location .

I wouldn't have any idea.

If they don’t have the resources to provide good service, then they are still providing bad service, and it seems entirely fair to knock them for that.

If my company sells something on Amazon, and the shipper messes up, we try to make it up for the customer, we don’t pass the buck, because we understand that ultimately, the customer is the important one. And if we didn’t, we’d deserve to be criticized for using a poor delivery service.

Additionally, it seems like all restaurants should be roughly in the same boat on this, so bad reviews should be distributed evenly anyway if restaurants are as helpless as you say .

I think Karen is mainly a Gen X phenomenon, the Boomer equivalent is/was Linda, which is pretty much the same. The Linda would have been heard storming into the school principal’s office in the 1980s/ 1990s insisting that her Karen is perfect and couldn’t possibly have done anything to deserve a detention, it must have been one of those other girls.

Not sore what the millennial equivalent is, I think there might be some Karen bleed over at the older range.

You think that would ever cross the minds of "Karens"?
